Pay for Performance Data Aggregation
This page allows providers to enter and aggregate Medicaid PI quality program data from other EHR systems. The data entered on this page is aggregated with measure data currently in athenaOne.
Important: Use the Pay for Performance Data Aggregation page to aggregate data for Medicaid PI behavioral/administrative measures only. To aggregate quality data for other programs and measures, use the eCQM Data page.
On the Main Menu, click Settings > Clinicals. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Quality Management, click Pay for Performance Data Aggregation

athenaOne runs a series of validation checks to ensure that the data entered is complete and makes logical sense. For example, athenaOne checks that no numerator value is greater than the corresponding denominator value.
After the provider or practice administrator enters all data on the Pay for Performance Data Aggregation page, the data is reflected in the "Measures entered" counts on the Pay for Performance Dashboard.
- Display the Pay for Performance Dashboard: On the Main Menu, click Quality. Then click Pay for Performance Dashboard.
- Click the arrow next to the relevant program to expand it.
- Click the # tasks to do link (under the Status column).
- Click the arrow next to Verify Meaningful Use data from non-athena EHR task to expand the section.
Note: For measures where data has been aggregated, an asterisk (*) is displayed next to the numerators and denominators. If additional data is required, you cannot attest that the data is accurate. - If you need to review data from your previous EHR, click Pay for Performance Data Aggregation to display the Pay for Performance Data Aggregation page and review your data. When you are finished, return to this task.
Note: Data entered on the Pay for Performance Data Aggregation page is aggregated with athenaClinicals data every night. - Check the box that says "I attest that this data is accurate and understand that I am fully responsible for any data entered into athenaOne from my non-athena EHR vendor."
Note: Only a provider can check this box. - Click Save.
CMS requires that providers practicing out of multiple locations aggregate their Medicaid PI data. For more information about this requirement, see the CMS Guide for Eligible Professionals in the Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Program Practicing in Multiple Locations.
You can use the Pay for Performance Data Aggregation page to enter and aggregate Medicaid PI quality program data from other EHR systems that you used previously or use currently. The data that you enter on this page is aggregated with performance data currently in athenaOne.
Important: Use the Pay for Performance Data Aggregation page to aggregate data for Medicaid PI behavioral/administrative measures only. To aggregate quality data for other programs and measures, use the eCQM Data page.
The Pay for Performance Data Aggregation page is useful for providers enrolled in Medicaid PI behavioral/administrative measures who converted from another EHR system midway through the reporting period; are using a non-athenahealth EHR concurrently with athenaClinicals; or are using athenaOne in a different practice for the reporting period.
- If your practice converted to athenaOne from another EHR system midway through the reporting period, providers should not use this page until after your athenaClinicals Go-live date.
- If your practice is using another EHR concurrently with athenaClinicals, providers should not use this page until after the reporting period ends.
- For providers new to your practice, you must wait until the provider has fully transitioned to your practice. This delay ensures that the provider data from the previous EHR is complete.
Note: If you need to aggregate Medicaid PI data for a provider but the Pay for Performance Data Aggregation page is not enabled for that provider, please contact the CSC from athenaOne > Support > Success Community > Contact Client Support Center.
Medicaid Promoting Interoperability (PI) data includes behavioral measures for which providers need to meet specific thresholds (numerator, denominator, and/or excluded patient counts), as well as additional clinical quality measures. With legacy data entry, providers participating in Medicaid Promoting Interoperability can transition to a new EHR or aggregate data from a non-athenahealth EHR into athenaClinicals without disrupting the successful completion of the current program year.
athenaClinicals is a 2015 Certified EHR Technology. To enter legacy Medicaid PI data into athenaClinicals, your legacy EHR must also be a 2015 certified EHR.
Note: You can look up the EHR certification status of your legacy EHR on the Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL).
