athenahealth has defined a default set of reporting categories that generally reflect the insurance company offering the insurance packages.
In most cases, these categories are sufficient. If not, your practice may want to create its own custom groups. For example, because contracting relationships are practice-specific, you might want to set up custom insurance groups that reflect insurance networks or contracts. One practice might classify a given insurance as an HMO, whereas another practice might classify it as a Commercial.
Typical reporting groups include HMO/PPO, Medicare, Accident/Legal, and Self-Pay.
This page allows you to define the categories upon which you want to report. After you define the categories, you need to associate particular insurance packages with each category using the Custom Insurance Grouping page.
You may report on these categories using the Insurance Reporting Category and Use Custom Insurance Groupings menus in the Advanced view of the A/R Aging and Activity Report Wizards.
