An Unknown remittance record represents a record that was not properly recorded in our system initially.

Unknown remittance records open to athenahealth for review. athenahealth will work to resolve these records. Typically, athenahealth changes the record type to a more specific remittance record type and works to resolve it.
Occasionally, you may be unable to determine which record type your information should be classified as. In these cases, you can classify the record as an "Unknown" record type so that athenahealth will review the record and make the determination on your behalf.
