Local Anesthesia Base Unit Values
This page allows you to customize the base units value assigned to an anesthesia service when a charge is created. Some providers may choose to use a schedule of base units other than the schedule provided by CMS, such as the schedule published by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) or a proprietary schedule.

Note: To see all local base unit values for your practice, see the Local Anesthesia Base Unit Values page.
Local base unit values are referenced when an anesthesia charge is created and, when provided, will override the CMS relative weight of the charge. Anesthesia charges are calculated as follows:
(Base unit (Local or Global) + Time Units) * Anesthesia Unit Rate
When provided, the local base unit value is used to calculate the anesthesia units and then multiplied by the anesthesia unit rate maintained in the fee schedule.
