News and Messages
This page serves as an intra-office email system, allowing you to communicate with staff via intra-office messages that appear in the recipients' message inbox. You cannot send or receive messages outside your practice using this page. Your unread messages are listed at the top of the page.
On the Main Menu, click Calendar. Under COMMUNICATIONS, click News and Messages
- Display the News and Messages page: On the Main Menu, click Calendar. Under COMMUNICATIONS, click News and Messages.
- Click Create Message. The Create New Message view appears.
- Enter Name — Enter the name of the recipients or user group and select it from the matching list. You can also enter a period (.) or question mark (?) to select a recipient from a list of users. The list that appears contains all athenaOne users in your practice. User groups appear at the bottom of the list, marked with an asterisk (*) before the User Group Name.
- Priority — Select a priority for the message using the option buttons.
- Subject — Enter the subject of the message.
- Message — Enter the text of the message.
- Click Send Message to send the message.
- On the Patient Actions Bar, click Messaging, and then click Send Message About This Patient. The Create New Message view appears, with the patient's basic information displayed at the top of the page.
- Enter Name: — Enter the name of the recipients or user group and select it from the matching list. You can also enter a period (.) or question mark (?) to select a recipient from a list of users. The list that appears contains all athenaOne users in your practice. User groups appear at the bottom of the list, marked with an asterisk (*) before the User Group Name.
- Priority — Select a priority for the message.
- Subject — Enter the subject of the message.
- Message — Enter the text of the message.
- Click Send Message to send the message. The message appears on the patient's Quickview page. On the Sent Messages page, the message includes a quickview link to the patient's Quickview page.
Note: Messages added to the News section expire within 30 days of being posted.
You must have the Superuser or Billing admin: Edit News user permission to post news.
- Display the Edit News page: On the Main Menu, click Settings > Practice Manager. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Miscellaneous, click News.
- News Message — Enter the text of the message.
- Click Add. The new message appears at the top of the News and Messages page, under the News heading, and on the list of messages on the Edit News page.
- Display the News and Messages page: On the Main Menu, click Calendar. Under COMMUNICATIONS, click News and Messages. Your Inbox is the default view. You can also click the Inbox(n) link at the top of the page.
- Click the linked subject of the message that you want to view. Unread message links appear in bold; those you have already viewed are in regular font. The Message Detail page appears, with the message text displayed.
- Display the News and Messages page: On the Main Menu, click Calendar. Under COMMUNICATIONS, click News and Messages.
- Click Sent (in) at the top of the page. The Sent Messages page appears.
- Click the linked subject of the message that you want to view. Unread message links appear in bold; those you have already viewed are in regular font. The Message Detail page appears, with the message text displayed.
- Display the News and Messages page: On the Main Menu, click Calendar. Under COMMUNICATIONS, click News and Messages.
- Click the Saved (n) link. The Saved Messages page appears.
- Click the linked subject of the message that you want to view. Unread message links appear in bold; those you have already viewed are in regular font. The Message Detail page appears, with the message text displayed.
- Display the News and Messages page: On the Main Menu, click Calendar. Under COMMUNICATIONS, click News and Messages.
- Click the Inbox(n), Saved(n), or Trash(n) link at the top of the page. The selected page appears.
- Select the message (or click linked subject for the message) that you want to mark, flag, save, or delete.
- Action — Select the desired option to mark or flag your message.
- Move To... (at the top of the page) — Select the desired option to save or delete your message.
- Display the News and Messages page: On the Main Menu, click Calendar. Under COMMUNICATIONS, click News and Messages.
- Click the Inbox(n), Saved(n), or Trash(n) link at the top of the page. The selected page appears.
- Move To... — Select "Delete Forever." The message is permanently deleted.
