Physical Therapy Exercise Sets
This page allows you to create and administer sets of physical therapy exercises used in a physical therapy episode within the encounter. By selecting a defined exercise set (usually by body region), physical therapists can carry over all related exercises to an encounter. You can also copy global physical therapy exercise sets
On the Main Menu, click Settings
> Clinicals. In the left menu,under Practice Links — Exam, click Physical Therapy Exercise Sets
To access this page, you must have the Clinicals Admin role, and the department-specific Physical Therapy Episode feature must be enabled.
- Display the Physical Therapy Exercise Sets page: On the Main Menu, click Settings
> Clinicals. In the left menu,under Practice Links — Exam, click Physical Therapy Exercise Sets. - Click Add new.
- Name — Enter a name for the exercise set.
- Ordering — Enter a value to set the display order for this exercise set.
- Exercises — Select exercises to include in the set. You can filter the search list by typing the first few letters in the Filter List box, or you can click Select all at the bottom of the list to select all the exercises.
- Click Save to save the set, or click Save and Add Another to create another exercise set.
You can also use this page to edit or delete exercise sets.

In the patient's Exercise Flowsheet, enter the exercise or exercise set you want to add.
A drop-down menu appears with a list of relevant exercises or exercise sets to choose from.

Check the box next to the exercise(s) or exercise set(s) you want to add.
Your selected options appear under the Selected column on the right.Note
If you need to add more exercises or exercise sets, you can use the same search bar to add them. -
Once you finish adding all your exercises and exercise sets, click Add.
A list appears with all your selected exercises and exercise sets. -
Enter instructions as needed in the text field.

To reorder exercises, click an exercise and drag it up or down the list.

To hide unused rows, click the Hide unused rows button in the top right corner.

Click Save and Close in the top right corner.
athenaOne automatically saves your changes and returns you to the Physical Exam.

In the patient's Exercise Flowsheet, hover your cursor next to the date of the encounter with the instructions you want to copy.

athenaOne copies the exercise instructions and auto-populates them into the current date's instruction text fields.Note

Click Save and Close in the top right corner.
athenaOne automatically saves your changes and returns you to the Physical Exam.

In the patient's Exercise Flowsheet, after you've added a new exercise or exercise set, click
Add custom exercise at the bottom of the Exercise Flowsheet.
A new exercise field appears. -
Enter a name for the exercise and exercise instructions.
Note
If you try to add a new exercise and it already exists in the athenaOne library, a "Name already used" alert appears. Enter a new, unique name for the exercise. -
Click Save and Close in the top right corner.
athenaOne automatically saves your changes and returns you to the Physical Exam.
athenaOne lists exercises chronologically in the order you selected them. Newly selected exercises appear at the bottom.
Click the six dots icon
next to the exercise you want to reorder and drag it up or down the list.
Click Hide unused rows in the top right corner of the Exercise Flowsheet to remove all empty rows that have never had content in any column.
Hide exercises in the Exercise Flowsheet by clicking the hide icon
to the right of the exercise's row. Hiding an exercise removes it from the Exercise Flowsheet and will not appear in the flowsheet for any future encounters associated with the episode.
Click Show hidden rows (n) at the top of the flowsheet. The number in parentheses indicates the amount of rows that have been hidden from view. Previously hidden exercises and all associated instructions from past encounters will appear at the bottom of the flowsheet if you click Show hidden rows (n).
If you enter a custom exercise that has previously been hidden from the Exercise Flowsheet, an alert appears, stating that the name is already in use for a hidden exercise.
Click Show hidden rows (n) to display the hidden exercise on the flowsheet.
All documented exercises still appear in the episode details for historical accuracy regardless of whether or not they were hidden in the flowsheet.
