User Guide — Claim Acceptance / Rejection Reports
If your practice receives claim acceptance and/or rejection reports that are not EOBs, please fax these reports to: ATTN: Claim Submission Team, Fax #: 781-642-8899.
The "front-end claim reports" or "acknowledgment reports" provide essential information that athenahealth needs to ensure that your claims are entering payers' adjudication systems. Most payers send these reports to athenahealth in electronic form, but sometimes payers send these reports directly to your practice instead. athenahealth uses the reports to:
- Update your system
- Place rejected claims in their proper buckets
- Add rejection notes
When claims are rejected for reasons that athenahealth can address (for example, claim format errors), we correct the claims and resubmit them according to our standard process.
