Holidays
athenaOne for Hospitals & Health Systems
This page allows you to view and administer holidays in your practice. By default, the page displays the holidays for the current year. You can use the Edit Holidays menu to display the holidays for a past or future year.
athenahealth maintains a list of federal holidays up to five years ahead. You can manually update or add holidays even beyond the automatically populated years available. For example, if a holiday is observed on an alternative date, use the update link to select the appropriate date.
On the Main Menu, click Settings > Schedule. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Scheduling, click Holidays
- Display the Holidays page: On the Main Menu, click Settings > Schedule. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Scheduling, click Holidays.
- Date — Enter or select the date of the holiday.
- Name — Enter the name of the holiday.
- Office closed — Select this option if your office is closed on this holiday. If you select this option, athenaOne will skip this day when you apply schedule templates.
- Click Add. The new holiday appears in the list of
holidays below.
Note: If you attempt to add a duplicate holiday, a warning message appears. - Click Save to save your changes.
Important Note: If you create a new holiday on a date where appointment slots already exist, athenaOne warns you (in red text) that there are slots scheduled on that day, but it does not delete those slots. To delete the appointment slots, display the Manage Appointments page, and then select and delete the slots that exist on that day.
- Display the Holidays page: On the Main Menu, click Settings > Schedule. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Scheduling, click Holidays.
- From the Edit Holidays menu, select the year for the holiday that you want to update. The list of holidays for that year appears below.
- Click the update link for the holiday that you want to update. The details appear in the fields at the top of the page.
- Update the information as needed.
- Click Update.
- Click Save to save your changes.
- Display the Holidays page: On the Main Menu, click Settings > Schedule. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Scheduling, click Holidays.
- From the Edit Holidays menu, select the year for the holiday that you want to delete. The list of holidays for that year appears below.
- Click the
delete link for the holiday that you want to
delete. A warning message appears. Click OK to delete the holiday, or click Cancel to preserve it.
If you deleted the holiday, you now see the Show deleted(n) link above the list of holidays (n = the number of deleted holidays for the selected year). - Click Save to save your changes.
- Display the Holidays page: On the Main Menu, click Settings > Schedule. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Scheduling, click Holidays.
- From the Edit Holidays menu, select the year for the holiday that you want to restore (undelete). The list of holidays for that year appears below.
- Click the Show deleted(n) link above the list of holidays (n = the number of deleted holidays for the selected year).
Deleted holidays now appear in the list of holidays for the selected year. - Click the undelete link for the holiday that you want to restore. A warning message appears. Click OK to restore the holiday, or click Cancel to leave it deleted.
- Click Save to save your changes.
