This page allows you to create and maintain your local set of code mappings. You can create dated pairings of ASA and CPT codes. Local code mappings are available only within your practice.
Note: You must have the "Practice setup: Anesthesia Code Mappings" user permission to access and use this page. As with all other functionality, this permission may be assigned independently. The permission is included in higher-level athenaOne roles.
How do I get to this page?
On the Main
Menu, click Settings 
> Billing. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Anesthesia, click Local Anesthesia Code Mappings
To create a local mapping of CPT Surgical codes to ASA CPT codes
- Display the Local
Anesthesia Code Mappings page: On the Main
Menu, click Settings > Billing. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Anesthesia, click Local Anesthesia Code Mappings.
- CPT Procedure Code — Enter the CPT code (required).
- ASA Procedure Code — Enter the ASA procedure code (required).
- Effective Date — To limit the code mapping to a specific date range, enter an effective date in this field; otherwise, leave this field blank.
- To limit the code mapping to a specific date range, enter an expiration date in the Expiration Date field; otherwise, leave this field blank.
- Click Save. The new mapping appears in the list of paired codes at the bottom of the page.
Features and workflows
Using the mapped CPT codes
Local anesthesia code mappings should be used only when your practice believes that the correct ASA code does not appear as an option in the Time Sheet page ASA menu. You do not need to create your own complete set of values.
When you enter a CPT surgical code in the anesthesia Time Sheet page, athenaOne automatically maps the code to the appropriate ASA code. Local mappings appear with an asterisk (*) to distinguish them from global mappings.
