Person Center — Allergies Tab
athenahealth Population Health
Use the Person Center Problems tab to keep track of a patient's allergies. The allergy library is supplied by First Databank, Inc. (FDB).
On the Main Menu, enter the patient's name, patient ID, or member ID (insurance number) in the Search Bar. Under NETWORK PATIENTS, select the data type and then click the search icon. Matching patients are listed under the Patients tab. Click the patient name to expand the selection, and then click the patient name in large text to display the patient's Person Center. Click the Allergies tab on the left side.
Your organization must use athenahealth Population Health, and you must have one or more of the following permissions:
- Population Management: Care Manager — To add and edit allergies on the Allergies tab
- Population Management: Person Center Tabs Edit — To add and edit allergies on the Allergies tab
- Population Management: Care User — For read-only access to the Allergies tab

Display a patient's Person Center Allergies tab: On the Main Menu, enter the patient's name, patient ID, or member ID (insurance number) in the Search Bar. Under NETWORK PATIENTS, select the data type and then click the search icon. Matching patients are listed under the Patients tab. Click the patient name to expand the selection, and then click the patient name in large text to display the patient's Person Center. Click the Allergies tab on the left side.
- View the existing allergy information and click the Plus icon to add another allergy.
- Enter the allergy name and it from the matching list.
Additional fields appear. - Allergy Type — Select Medication, Environmental, or Food from the list.
- Onset Date — Enter the onset date or click the calendar icon to select the onset date.
- NOTE — Enter any notes about the allergy (optional).
- Click the Plus icon next to Reaction to enter information about the patient's reaction to this allergen.
- Reaction — Select the patient's reaction, such as Rash, to this allergen from the list.
- Severity — Select the severity of the reaction, such as Severe, from the list.
- Click to indicate that the allergy is Active or Historical.
- Click Save.
Use the Allergies tab to view and record active and historical medication, and medication, environmental, and food allergies for the patient. When documenting an allergy, you can record the reaction, severity, and onset date. You can also print this information as part of the printable care summary.
