Quick Reference — To disable lab and imaging results from going to follow-up
You can disable the alarm that triggers and sends a lab or imaging result document for follow-up when a patient doesn't view the result in the Patient Portal. By default, when a provider publishes a lab or imaging result to the Patient Portal, and the patient doesn't retrieve the result, a predefined alarm triggers and places the result in FOLLOWUP status.
The Alarm Days field on the result document indicates when the alarm will trigger and send the result document into FOLLOWUP status. When you disable notifications for unread results, the follow-up alarm still triggers after the time interval expires; however, instead of moving the result document to FOLLOWUP status, athenaOne closes the document.
Your practice can enable this feature for all providers, or individual providers can enable the feature for themselves:
- For all providers — Disables all unread lab and imaging results from going to follow-up. To enable this feature for all providers at your practice, contact the CSC. On the Main Menu, click Support > Success Community > Contact Client Support Center.
- For individual providers — Disables only unread lab and imaging results associated with a specific provider from going to follow-up. Providers can enable this feature for themselves on the User Preferences page by selecting the Disable all lab and imaging results from going into follow-up option.
If your practice disables follow-up notifications for all providers, the user preference is selected for each provider by default. Providers who wish to receive follow-up notifications can unselect the user preference to opt out and allow unread results to move to FOLLOWUP status.
To enable this feature as a provider, select the user preference:
- Display the User Preferences page: On the Main
Menu, click Settings
> User Preferences.
-
Select the Disable all lab and imaging results from going into follow-up option.
-
Click Submit to save the changes.
