Post-Procedure Medications Section
This section allows you to record the medications administered post-procedure, without these details becoming part of the patient's history. Use this section for documentation only, and not for prescribing.
Note: The medications you record as administered during a procedure are not added to the patient's medication history.

This section appears in the encounter for appointment types that are mapped to the "Structured Procedure Visit" or the "Exam-Only Structured Procedure Visit" encounter layout. You can use the Assign Appointment Types to Layouts page to map appointment types to encounter layouts.

Your practice must have the Structured Procedure Documentation feature enabled to configure and use this section.


The Post-Procedure Medications section includes the following categories:
- IV
- Medications
- Antibiotics
- In the Post section of the Exam stage, scroll to the Post-Op section.
- Click into the section to open it in a new window for editing and scroll to the Post-Procedure Medications section.
- Medication — Click in the field and select the medication from the list. Alternatively, enter the first few characters of the name of the medication to search for and then select it from the list.
- Administered — Enter the time you administered the medication.
- Verbal order by — Select the provider who ordered the medication.
- Read back at — Enter the time that the medication order was read back.
- Note — Enter notes.
- Click Save.

Before you can use the Post-Procedure Medications section, you must use the Post-Procedure Medications page to specify the medications available in the Post-Procedure Medications section.

- Display the Post-Procedure Medications page: On the Main
Menu, click Settings
> Clinicals. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Procedure Configuration, click Post-Procedure Medications.
- Click Add new.
- Medication — Enter the first few characters of the medication to add, and then select it from the list.
- Type — Select the medication type from the menu: IV, MEDICATION, or ANTIBIOTIC.
- Click Save, or click Save and Add Another.

Read back at | The time that the medication was read back verbally. |
