Department Drop-Downs
This page allows you to control which departments appear in the department drop-down lists for users logged in to a given department. This feature is principally useful for scheduling: only the departments selected on this page appear in the department menu for scheduling an appointment. Even if the -all- departments option is selected, athenaOne shows open slots only in the departments selected on this page.

On the Main
Menu, click Settings > Billing. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Departments, click Department
Drop-downs

To access this page, your practice must have the Department Drop-Downs feature enabled and you must have the Practice Set-Up: Department Drop-Downs role or permission.
A message at the top of the page tells you whether Department Drop-Down Restrictions are currently enabled or disabled for your practice. You can use this feature only if the message says enabled. Contact the CSC from athenaOne > Support > Success Community > Contact Client Support Center if you need to enable or disable this function. (See also: Practice Settings.)

- Display the Department Drop-Downs page: On the Main
Menu, click Settings
> Billing. In the left menu, under Practice Links — Departments, click Department Drop-downs.
The list of login departments is displayed. - Select one or more filters
from the Select departments to edit list or the Select departments for the drop-down lists (optional) list (or click All in each section.).
- Provider group
- Speciality
- Location
- Department
The page reloads and the departments appear in a table with columns for each of the selected departments.
- For each login department, select the departments that you want to appear in the department drop-down menus for the login department. Alternatively, locate the department name at the top of the page and select all the login departments where that department should be listed.
Tip: To include a department in the drop-down menus of all the departments listed on the left side of the page, click Select All. To remove a department from the drop-down menus of all the departments listed on the left side of the page, click Deselect All. - Deselect any departments that should not appear in a given login department.
- Click Save.

You can hover over the column headings to display the complete department names.
The initial view of this page shows a Login Departments list that you use to create a grid of login departments. The login departments you select are listed vertically on the left side of the page. All patient departments in the practice are listed horizontally across the top of the grid. (A patient department has the Patient department field on the Departments page set to Y.)
Note: The Department Drop-Downs feature simplifies the appointment workflow for large practices; it is not a security tool.
