The department government designations are federally qualified health center (FQHC), rural health clinic (RHC), and provider-based clinic (PBC). Other department types and specialties are not stored on this page.
- FQHC — Federally qualified health center (FQHC) is a reimbursement designation that refers to several health programs funded under the Health Center Consolidation Act (Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act). FQHCs are community-based organizations that provide comprehensive primary care and preventive care to persons of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay. FQHCs receive grants under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act. FQHCs qualify for additional reimbursement from Medicare and Medicaid, as well as other benefits.
- RHC — Rural health clinic (RHC) is a clinic certified to receive special Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. RHCs are intended to increase primary care services for Medicaid and Medicare patients in government-designated rural areas. RHC status provides enhanced reimbursement rates for providing Medicaid and Medicare services in rural areas.
- PBC — Provider-based clinics (PBCs) provide outpatient services at a hospital facility.
