Inactive Patients

 

If you select Inactive from the Status menu on the patient Quickview:

  • An alert appears in the header and patient banner for this patient.
  • A pop-up reminder appears if you attempt to schedule an appointment for this patient (you can click OK and still schedule an appointment).
  • The patient is still included in athenahealth certified eCQMs and in quality program submission data (in accordance with CMS and other quality program sponsors).
  • With ReminderCall, the patient still receives ReminderCalls if you do not cancel upcoming appointments.
  • With ReminderCall, the patient still receives Self-Pay reminders if the patient has an outstanding balance.
  • With the Patient Portal, a patient marked as inactive cannot access the Patient Portal.

Tip: You can use the Patient Status filter in the Report Builder to report on inactive patients.
