User Guide — View-Only Access
athenaOne has several "view-only" user roles. These roles, which are granted via the Users page, give users the ability to access and view information within athenaOne without being able to modify any data (all inputs on athenaOne pages are disabled and read-only). This page describes the view-only user roles.
View-only users see only the subset of links and menu options to which they have access in athenaOne. Like other users in athenaOne, view-only users can access the messaging functionality in athenaOne so that they can communicate with others in the practice.
- You can combine view-only user permissions with other view-only user permissions. For example, you can create a user with only the roles of View Only Demographics and View Only Schedules.
- You cannot combine view-only user permissions with non-view-only user permissions because view-only roles cannot add or update any data in athenaOne.
On the Users page, if you attempt to assign a view-only role in combination with a non-view-only role or permission, athenaOne alerts you and prevents the assignment.
This role gives users the ability to view the following pages and functionality in a view-only mode:
- Quickview
- Find patient
- CPI View
- View Insurance Policies (both Active and Cancelled)
- Patient Registration
This role gives users the ability to view the following pages and functionality in a view-only mode:
- View Old Claims
- Find Claim
- View Claim Edit (which is renamed Claim View for view-only users)
- View Billing Batches
- View Billing Summary, Show Patient Activity, and View Patient Payment Summary
- athenaCodesource
- View EOB
- Patient Account View
- View Workflow Dashboard
This role gives users the ability to view the following pages and functionality in a view-only mode:
- View Patient Rounding Lists
- View Admit History
- View Chart Checks
- View Patient Appointment Histories
- View Patient Appointment Reminders
- View Staff Calendar
- View Department Calendar
Note: If a view-only user clicks a patient name in the Today's Appointments worklist or in the schedule, the patient's Quickview page appears instead of the Check-in page because the check-in workflow requires data modification, and view-only users do not have the ability to modify any information in athenaOne.
This role gives users the ability to view certain Billing Admin pages in athenaOne in view-only mode:
- Provider
- Provider Numbers
- Referring Provider
- Referring Provider Numbers
- Medical Group
- Medical Group Numbers
- Departments
- Department Numbers
- Fee Schedules
- Allowable Schedules
- Procedure Codes
- Procedure Code Modifiers
You can give users edit permissions for all of Billing Admin, view-only permissions for all of Billing Admin, or some combination of the two:
- To give a user edit permissions for all of Billing Admin, select the *Billing Admin role.
- To give a user view-only permissions for all of Billing Admin, select the View Only Billing Admin role.
- To give a user a combination of view-only and edit permissions, select the View Only Billing Admin role to give view-only permissions, and then select the page-specific Billing Admin edit roles.
With the View Only User Admin role, a user can see how local roles and certain users' permissions are set up, without having administrative access.
You must have the Master User Admin permission to give other users the View-Only User Admin role.
