The Charge Entry Lag report helps you understand the charge entry lag (CEL) sentinel metric on the Sentinel Metrics Dashboard. The data displayed in the report should exactly match the data displayed for the charge entry lag metric on the Sentinel Metrics Dashboard.
The charge entry lag metric on the Sentinel Metrics Dashboard shows how long it takes you to enter charges after a visit.
Note: If a claim has multiple service days, the metric is based on the last (most recent) service day.
The charge entry lag metric is calculated as follows:
Total time elapsed between date of service and claim creation for all claims
Total number of claims
The CEL metric is updated to:
- Reflect changes made before the month closes, for example, voided charges.
- Discount voided claims (that is, claims on which all charges were voided) when calculating the total number of claims.
The Charge Entry Lag report uses predefined display columns and filters. If you want to use other fields or filters, you can copy the report to the My Reports section of the Front Office Operations tab and then edit the report copy on the Report Builder page (see "To create a custom version of the Charge Entry Lag report").
Each row in the Charge Entry Lag report corresponds to a specific claim. Therefore, the average charge entry lag for a specific row is the same as the claim's ordinary charge entry lag number. If you create a custom version of this report and remove claim-specific information from the list of display columns on the Report Builder page, the average charge entry lag number represents the average for the columns displayed.
