Patient Statements Report
The Patient Statements report provides summary and detailed views of outbound patient statements. The detailed view displays one row for each patient statement; the summary view aggregates patient statement information into a practice-wide row or provider group rows (if you use provider groups).

Display the Report Library: On the Main Menu, click Reports. Under General, click Report Library. Click the Billing Operations tab. In the Standard Reports section of the tab, click run next to Patient Statements.

To access reports on the Billing Operations tab of the Report Library, you must have the Report: Report Library: Billing Operations permission. This permission is included in the following roles:
- Practice Superuser role
- Report Reader role
Note: To activate the Patient Statements report, use the Activate Reports page.

- Display the Report Library: On the Main Menu, click Reports. Under General, click Report Library.
- Click the Billing Operations tab.
- Click run next to Patient Statements in the Standard Reports section of the tab.
The Run Report: Patient Statements page appears. - Statement Date Range — Enter the start and end dates for the report, or select a date range from the menu.
The dates selected are the dates when patients were billed. - I want to ... — Create a summary or detailed report by selecting one of these options:
- To display one table row for each patient statement, select See a full listing of each patient statement.
- To display aggregated data for the practice as a whole or for provider groups (if used), select Summarize patient statements into groups.
- Included Provider Groups — To report on patient statements for specific provider groups only, click Selected and then select the provider groups to include in the report.
- Included Transmission Types — To report on patient statements for specific delivery methods — U.S. mail, Patient Portal (e‑statements), or both U.S. mail and the Patient Portal — select one of these options:
- PORTAL — Show only patient statements sent to the Patient Portal.
- PAPER — Show only patient statements sent on paper via U.S. mail.
- BOTH — Show only patient statements sent using both delivery methods (paper mail and the Patient Portal).
- Included Dunning Levels — To report on patient statements for specific dunning levels only, click Selected and then select the dunning levels to include in the report.
- Report Format — Select the format for your report results.
- HTML table — Display the report results on your screen.
- Text (tab-delimited) — Export the report results to a .csv file in tab-delimited format.
- Text (comma-delimited) — Export the report results to a .csv file in comma-delimited format.
- Report Options — Select report options.
- Suppress Column Headings — Select this option to remove column headings from the report results.
- Suppress Report Name — Select this option to remove the report name from the report results.
- Show Filter Criteria — Select this option to include your selected filter criteria in the report results.
- Run Offline (will appear in your Report Inbox tomorrow morning) — Select this option for very long reports. Reports that are run offline appear in your Report Inbox the morning after the request.
- Click Run Report.

Column headings — Summary view | |
Provider Group |
Name of the provider group associated with the patient statements summarized in the table row. Note: If your organization does not use provider groups, the practice-level summary appears in this row. |
Total Billed |
Total amount due from the patient statements summarized in the table row for each provider group or for the practice as a whole. |
No. of Statements |
Number of patient statements billed in the provider group or the practice. |
Amount per statement |
Average amount billed per patient statement. |
Percentage with Payment Plan |
Percentage of patient statements where a payment plan existed at the time of billing (rounded to one decimal). |
Average Dunning Level |
Average dunning level for the statements included in the table row. For collection purposes, the average amount per statement (shown in the Amount per statement column) and the average dunning level may indicate the degree of attention required by this group of statements. Note: For more information about dunning levels, see Dunning Messages. |
Dunning Factor |
The dunning factor is calculated as follows: Dunning Factor = [Average Dunning Level] × [Average Amount per Statement] A relatively high dunning factor suggests a high average dunning level with a relatively high amount per statement. |

Statement Date | Date on which the patient was billed. |
Patient ID |
Linked ID of the patient on the statement. You can click this link to display the Quickview for the patient. |
Patient Name |
Name of the patient on the statement (last name, first name). |
Provider Group | Name of the provider group associated with the statement. |
Transmission Type |
Method of statement delivery:

Dunning Level |
Statement's dunning level, which indicates the number of statements sent to the patient. For more information, see Dunning Messages. |
Has Payment Plan Y/N |
Indicates whether the patient had a payment plan at the time of billing (Y = yes, N = no). |
Total Due from Patient | Total amount due from the patient as of the statement date. |
