This page allows you to locate an ICD-9 diagnosis code by description or code, and to populate any Diagnoses or Diagnosis Code(s) field that appears on the Charge Entry, Claim Edit, and other athenaOne pages.

 

This page is not used for ICD-10 codes. The ICD-10 search tool includes patient historical and frequently used codes.

 

To access this tool: Enter a period in any Diagnoses or Diagnosis code field that appears on many athenaOne pages, including the Charge Entry, Claim Edit, Activity Report Wizard, Capitation Wizard, Report Builder, and Insurance Authorization pages

 

 

 

  1. To display the Diagnosis Lookup tool: Enter a period in any Diagnoses or Diagnosis code field that appears on many athenaOne pages, including the Charge Entry, Claim Edit, Activity Report Wizard, Capitation Wizard, Report Builder, and Insurance Authorization pages.
  2. Enter a keyword (or keywords) that describe the diagnosis code you want to locate.
  3. Click Lookup. The list of diagnosis codes that match your keywords appears below, with the number of matching results displayed at the bottom of the list.
  4. Click on the description of the diagnosis code you want to use. The previous page reappears with the chosen code in the diagnosis code entry box.

  3. Click Lookup. The list of diagnosis codes that begin with the digits you entered appears below, with the number of matching results displayed at the bottom of the list.
  4. Click on the description of the diagnosis code you want to use. The previous page reappears with the chosen code in the diagnosis code entry box.

  4. Click the magnifying glass icon to the left of the code. The athenaCodesource Code and Knowledge Base tool for that diagnosis code appears.

  2. Enter a diagnosis code or enter the first digits of the diagnosis code that you want to locate.
  3. Click Lookup. The list of diagnosis codes that begin with the digits you entered appears below, with the number of matching results displayed at the bottom of the list.
  4. Click the add to my diagnoses link for the diagnosis code that you want to add to your list. (If you don't have a My Diagnoses list, this action will create one.)
  5. A message box appears confirming that the diagnosis was added to your list. The list will appear the next time you access the lookup tool.

  2. Enter a diagnosis code or enter the first digits of the diagnosis code that you want to locate.
  3. Click Lookup. The list of diagnosis codes that begin with the digits you entered appears below, with the number of matching results displayed at the bottom of the list.
  4. Click the delete link for the diagnosis code that you want to remove from the list. The diagnosis code is removed. If you delete all of the items from your list, the My Diagnoses heading disappears from the initial default display.

 

 

 

The initial display of diagnosis codes is administered by your practice using the Common Diagnosis Codes page.

 

You can also create a user-specific "My Diagnoses" list that appears at the top of the initial display. You can add and delete diagnosis codes to and from your My Diagnoses list using this tool.

 

You can click the magnifying glass icon to access the athenaCodesource Code and Knowledge Base tool from this page.

 

Note: For athenaClinicals users, you can use the User Preferences page to select the Add diagnosis to problem list by default option to make athenaOne automatically add selected diagnosis codes (except ICD-9 codes beginning with a 'v') to the list of patient problems in the Problems section.
