Cancel Appointment
This page allows you to cancel and reschedule a patient appointment, and to remove an appointment from the Appointment Cancellation Worklist without cancelling the appointment.
Note: To cancel a set of recurring appointments, refer to Recurrence Preview.
On the Workflow Dashboard, under the Appts to Resched column, click the number for the department row or total row. The Appointment Cancellation Worklist appears in the Task Bar. Click a linked patient name
- On the Workflow Dashboard, under the Appts to Resched column, click the number for the department row or total row. The Appointment Cancellation Worklist appears in the Task Bar.
- Check the checkbox for the appointment that you want to cancel.
- Note/Reason — Enter any relevant notes.
- Reason for cancellation — Select the reason for the cancellation.
- Click Cancel Checked Appointment(s).
The Appointment Rescheduling
page appears with links to (reschedule appointment(s),
reschedule using Multi-Resource, or go to patient's quickview.
Note: The appointment is removed from the Appointment Cancellation Worklist; on the Workflow Dashboard, the number in the "Appts to Resched" column is decreased by the number of appointments you cancelled.
When you cancel an appointment that contains future orders, you can create an appointment tickler and attach the orders to the tickler. When you reschedule the appointment from this tickler, the orders are transferred to the new appointment.
- Display the patient's Quickview page: In the text box at the top right of the Main Menu, enter the first three letters of the patient's last name, followed by a comma, followed by the first three letters of the patient's first name. Click the search icon. On the Find a Patient page, click Quickview for the patient you need.
- Scroll down to the Appointments heading and click cancel or reschedule next to the appointment to cancel.
The Cancel/Reschedule page appears. - Reason for cancellation — Select a cancellation reason from the menu.
- Click Cancel Appointment.
A message box informs you that orders are associated with this appointment (the orders are listed in the message box). You can cancel the appointment or cancel it and create a tickler. - To cancel the appointment and create a tickler that includes the orders, click Cancel Appointment and Create Tickler.
The Add Appointment Tickler page appears. - To cancel the appointment without creating a tickler, click Cancel Appointment.
The orders are moved to the provider or department row in the Clinical Inbox that is associated with the appointment (see Future Orders Tab).
- Generate an Appointment Cancellation Worklist: On the Workflow Dashboard, under the Appts to Resched column, click the number for the department row or total row. The Appointment Cancellation Worklist appears in the Task Bar.
- In the Appointment Cancellation Worklist in the Task Bar, select the patient that you want to remove.
- Click Keep Appointment (at the bottom left). This removes the appointment from the worklist, and retains the appointment on the provider's schedule.
Note: This function is not available from the Check-in page.
